The Battle of the Adams – The Challenge Renewed!
Posted 2 May 2007
Harper Adams University College Staff Mixed Hockey Team played an energetic and competitive match against Adams Grammar School Staff last night, nearly 10 years after the last match between them was played.
Historically the two educational establishments fought over the Adams Cup. Earlier this month Adams Grammar threw down the gauntlet and challenged the Harper Adams staff to again fight for the title of Champions of the Old Adam’s Trophy. This was spurred on by Adams Grammar’s teacher Edward Jopling who challenged Head of Marketing Richard ‘Joppers’ Jopling – who by no coincidence is the formers father! So, not only was this a battle of the Adams, it was a battle of the Joplings!
Basic Match Report!
After a fast paced first half Adams Grammar School were one up on Harper Adams and after the final whistle Adams Grammar celebrated a 0-3 victory.
Rather than the fantastic goals been talk of the night it was Adams Headmaster who was under much discussion after a clash of heads and rather a bloody injury. Despite that, both teams had a great night and rest assured a good time was had by all!
The Battle of the Adams will continue next month when Harper Adams will host the next challenge – cricket.
